The Aegean Isle of Lesbos dates its woman-friendly heritage to lyric poet Sappho (sometimes called the 10th Muse). Her birth village, Skala Eressos, on the modern Greek island alternatively spelled "Lesbos" or "Lesvos" hosts a women-friendly festival in September, but any way you spell it, Lesbos is a year-round natural spa with crystal clear ocean waters, rugged mountains, bountiful olive groves and hot springs, mineral springs and thermal baths said to rejuvenate body and soul.
